Campsite at 17,500 ft |

peaks of Himalayas sweep to it’s shores. On the
third side, a few hundred yards away, glaciers threaten to engulf
it; and on the forth side, water flows from the lake, as it
plunges to the canyon below, giving birth to the Hongu. Ama Dablam, just
to the west, is hidden from view by the guardian peaks of this
lake. And Everest, also, is just out of sight, a stones throw
northwest. Tibet is a days walk if one could go over the spine of
the Himalayan mountains.
My tent, sitting next to the lake, is insignificant and fragile
and represents the way this place makes me feel.
