The funeral for Kenneth "Kenny" Floyd Beck, 49, Artas, will be held Friday, April 26, 10:30 a.m. at the Reformed Church in Eureka. The Rev. Dan Schnabel and the Rev. Robert Grossman will officiate.

Burial will be in the Artas City Cemetery under the direction of Carlsen Funeral Home, Eureka.

Visitation will be held Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.

Beck died Monday, April 22, 2002, at his home from a farm accident.

Kenneth Floyd Beck, son of Floyd and Gladys Zimmerman Beck, was born January 28, 1953, at Eureka. His family made their home at Fort Riley, Kan., where his father was stationed in the United States Army. As a young child, his family then made their home on a farm west of Artas until the eighth grade when he transferred to Herreid where he graduated with the Class of 1972. He then went on to further his educatoin at Mitchell Area Vocational Technical for two years, graduating in 1974 with a diploma in auto diesel mechanics. He returned to the family farm and farmed with his parents until 1979.

He was united in marriage to Ruby Mettler on March 24, 1979 at Zion Lutheran Church, Eureka. They made their home on his maternal grandparents homestead. This is where he farmed until the time of his accident.

He was very good at woodworking and was mechanically handy on the farm. Farming was his love. He would say that you can take me out of the country, but you can't take the country out of me.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Herreid.

Survivors include his wife of Artas; two sons, Matthew Beck, Fargo; and Marcus Beck, Artas; one daughter, Amy Beck, Artas; his parents of Herreid; two sisters, Cindy (John) Neifer, Hosmer, and Diann (Brad) Morehouse, Andover; a brother, Vaugh P. (Julie) Beck, Ipswich.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
