Mr. Edward "Eddie" Zglenicki, age 79, of Madison,
Indiana, entered this life on January 7, 1938 in Vevay,
Indiana. He was the loving son of Stanley J. and Emma Walker
Zglenicki. He resided his early life in Vevay and the family
settled later in Madison and then on Ryker's Ridge in
Jefferson County. Eddie cared for his parents until their
deaths. He served in the United States Marines on July 30,
1956 in Louisville, Kentucky and served in the 9th Marine
Corps and rose to the rate of Private First Class. He was
honorably discharged on August 5, 1958 from Paris Island,
South Carolina. He then served in the Merchant Marines and
the Coast Guard rising to the rate of Ordinary Seaman. While
aboard ship he served as a fireman, oiler and watertender.
He was honorably discharged on June 7, 1960 in Chicago,
Illinois. On August 5, 1962 he was honorably discharged from
the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He then served as
an inspector with the United States Department of
Agriculture. Eddie enjoyed classic cars. He fought a long
battle with Parkinson's disease. Edward died on Wednesday,
February 8, 2017, at 9:20 p.m. at his home near Madison,
Indiana.
Eddie will be missed by his loving nephew and caregiver,
Tony Zglenicki of Lucedale, Mississippi; his great nieces,
Bridget Zglenicki and MeloDee Mercer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley J.
Zglenicki, died August 28, 1990 and Emma Walker Zglenicki,
died May 29, 1971; his brother, Frank Zglenicki, died August
2, 2008; his great nephew, Joseph Wayne Zglenicki, died
January 23, 2007.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
