Irmgard Grenz Dixon - Back

Irmgard Grenz Dixon June 15 1932 January 29 2020

June 15 1932 January 29 2020
Obituary Irmgard was born June 15, 1932 to her parents, Gustav Grenz and Anna Schmidt, in Freystadt, Germany (Renamed Kisielice, Poland after WWII). Irmgard and her mother were forced to leave home and flee deeper into Germany to avoid the Russians during WWII. She eventually wound up in Dortmund, Germany, and became a Civil Engineer. In 1960, she met the missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and joined the church in 1960. She came to America in 1962 and married Gary Dixon. She had four children: Gerd, Kai, Tanya and Dirk. She traveled with her husband in the military and was always active in her church and community. She has resided in Utah since 1990—where she has remained active with church and friends. She even joined a group of German ladies and got together once month for lunch and visiting. She and Gary were married 57 years. Her life was centered around her church, her marriage, her family, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and numerous friends. It was a good life, and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Gary; son, Gerd; daughter, Tanya; and son, Dirk. Her son, Kai, preceded her in death in 2018. We, as a family, wish to thank so many really good friends—too many to mention, who have shown Irmgard and her family so much kindness, caring and consideration. I, as her husband, wish to say life with her has been a great ride. Her character, caring and love will influence many, and she has provided many good memories for all who knew her. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and good deeds. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 11 a.m., at the Adams Park LDS Ward located at 1015 North Emerald Drive, Layton, Utah, with a visitation for family and friends from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
