Walter Schauer Jr., 73, Napoleon, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in his home under Hospice care.

Walter Schauer Jr. was born Aug. 18, 1931, near Napoleon, where he grew up and attended school. In 1949, he worked for Hugo Moeckel Body Shop, Napoleon. In 1950, he began working for Northern Exposition Shows, traveling through the Dakotas and Montana. He married Lucille Schwartzenberger July 20, 1950. He worked for Yegen Dairy, Bismarck, and then on a survey crew on the Garrison Dam. He farmed for six years near Napoleon. In 1959, they moved to Napoleon, where he purchased Napoleon Sand and Gravel. He also drove a dairy truck and school bus. They owned and operated the Napoleon Theatre and Dakota Theatre, Wishek, N.D. He then owned and operated the Wishek Ready Mix Plant.

Walter is survived by his wife; four sons, Jerry (Kathleen), Napoleon, Daryl (Michelle), Keller, Texas, Lynn (Linda), Lincoln, N.D., Roger (Dallas), Colorado Springs, Colo.; four daughters, Connie (Randy) Gentzkow, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Annette (Paul) Godtland, Rochester, Minn., Susan (Larry) Hill, Littleton, Colo., Irene (John) Schatz, Steele, N.D.; two brothers, Allen (Joyce), Marysville, Wash., Weston (Nancy), Beulah, N.D.; two sisters, Phyllis (Ed) Hall, Wrightsville, Ga., Maxine (Richard) Perkins, Holder, Fla.; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Today from 10:30 to 8, with a prayer service at 6:30, in Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon.
Funeral: Saturday at 10:30 in St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon.
Burial: St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church Cemetery, Napoleon.

Lucille Schauer, 74, Napoleon, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, in Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Lucille Schwartzenberger was born July 17, 1932. In 1950, she graduated from Napoleon High School. In 1950, she married Walter Schauer Jr. She was a switchboard operator and desk clerk at the Patterson Hotel in Bismarck. They moved to Riverdale, N.D. They later returned to Napoleon, where she was a bookkeeper for Napoleon Sand & Gravel and Napoleon Theater. She also was a bookkeeper for Dakota Theater, Wishek, N.D. She was city auditor of Napoleon and bookkeeper for the Downtowner Cafe and Wishek Ready Mix. She owned 'Cilles Crafts.' Mr. Schauer preceded her in death.

She is survived by four sons, Gerald (Kathy), Napoleon, Daryl (Michelle), Keller, Texas, Lynn (Linda) Schauer, Lincoln, N.D., Roger (Dallas), Colorado Springs, Colo.; four daughters, Connie (Randy) Gentzkow, Detroit Lakes, Annette (Paul) Godtland, Rochester, Minn., Susan (Larry) Hill, Denver, Irene (John) Schatz, Steele, N.D.; four brothers, Frank (Sweetie), Butte, Mont., Jim, Pueblo, Colo., Gary, Sand Coulee, Mont., Robert, Deer Park, Wash.; two sisters, Mary Lou Schwartzenberger, Honolulu, Brenda (James) Conroy, Helena, Mont.; 21 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Today from 11 to 7, with a rosary service at 6:30 and a prayer service at 7, in Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon.
Funeral: Saturday at 10:30 in St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon.
Burial: St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon.
