Verla L. Schmidt,
85, Fargo, ND formerly of Pettibone, ND passed away
Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Bethany Retirement Living in
Fargo.
Verla Ziesch was born October 20, 1930 in Pettibone, ND to
August and Emma (Leapaldt) Ziesch. Verla received her
education in Petersville Township Schools. She married
Reinhold Schmidt on June 7, 1951 it Petersville Township.
They farmed NW of Pettibone for most of their lives. In 2007
they moved to West Fargo.
Verla enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, quilting, playing
piano and truly loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was active in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, served on the
L.W.M.L. board and Homemakers Club in Pettibone.
She is survived by her husband Reinhold, West Fargo, ND;
children, Delan (Kathryn) Schmidt, West Fargo, ND, Sheryl
(Bruce) Cochran, Elm Creek, NE, James Schmidt, Chaska, MN;
seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three
brothers, Robert (Deloris) Ziesch, Duane (Karen) Ziesch and
Delton Ziesch; two sisters, Darlene (John) Giger, Ardelle
Loose, and one brother-in-law, Harry Schmidt. She was
preceded in death by her parents, one sister, (Lois
Schmidt), and one brother-in-law, (Lawrence Loose).
Hosmer - Funeral service for Arthur W. Rohrbach, 95, of
Hosmer and formerly of Eureka, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
30, 2006, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ at Eureka.
Visitation will be Friday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home
and for one hour prior to the service at the church. He died
Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, at Hosmer Senior Citizens Home.
Arthur W. Rohrbach, son of William and Christine (Klein)
Rohrbach, was born Feb. 28, 1911, on the family homestead in
a sod house northwest of Eureka. This is where he grew up
while attending country school. He helped on the family
farm. He was united in marriage to Edna Grenz on Nov. 12,
1935, in the Evangelical Church at Artas. They made their
home in a sod house on a farm northwest of Eureka where they
farmed from 1935-1938. They then moved to Napoleon, N.D.,
and farmed 17 miles east of Napoleon. In 1940, they moved to
a farm southeast of Artas. In 1949, they moved into Artas
and operated Rohrbach's Service Station while also farming.
In 1952, he purchased a bulk fuel delivery service. In 1966,
he sold the service station and bulk service and farmed full
time, continuing to live in Artas. In 1967, they moved to
Eureka. He retired from farming in 1976. He entered the
Hosmer Senior Citizens Home in December 2003 to be near his
wife and she then died June 7, 2004. Arthur enjoyed fishing,
gardening, canning and visiting with friends downtown. He
had a love for horses and spending time with them. At the
age of 93, he learned to play pool. Survivors include four
daughters, Berneice (Harvey) Goehring of Eureka, Jeanette
Marquardt of Monroe, Wash., Elaine (David Schoolmeesters)
Hugg of Waite Park, Minn., and Betty Lou (Bob) Dorweiler of
Faribault, Minn.; one brother, Harold (Bernice) Rohrbach of
Woodbridge, Calif.; one sister, Irene Dohn of Eureka; two
sisters-in-law, Virginia Rohrbach of Lodi, Calif. and Edna
Rohrbach of Glen Ullin, N.D.; nine grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
