Myrta Ellen Courtney

Myrta Ellen (Coatney) Trost, Age 91, passed away to her heavenly home early Sunday morning, Oct. 21, 2012 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Ozark, MO where she has lived since the fall of 2008.

Ellen was born near Green Forest, AR on Nov. 12, 1920 to Henry Grant and Lucy Ellen (Chapman) Coatney. Ellen was the youngest of four children who grew up on her grandfather's homestead farm that is located in Sections 1 and 2, T19N, R24W of the 5th Principal Meridian in Carroll County, AR. Her grandfather was James Francis Coatney and he homesteaded 160 acres of land that was acquired by US GLO Patent Certificate No. 5214 dated 07/05/1889, and most of that land is still owned by Ellen's son, Eldon Trost. This family farm is located about half way between Green Forest and Berryville, AR in the Snow Community. She attended local area one-room schools (Grim and Snow).

Ellen was united in marriage to Hugo Ernest Trost on Mar. 11, 1940 at the Harvey House Hotel in Williams, AZ. Several months later Ellen and Hugo returned to Carroll County, and later purchased part of the Coatney homestead farm in the Snow Community. Ellen enjoyed telling many fond memories about her and Hugo's family life on this farm. They remained on the farm until 1991, then built a new home and moved into Green Forest for most of their retirement years.
Mrs. Trost was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years on Aug. 24, 2008; her parents; and three brothers, Clyde, Harvey and Quincy.

She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Elaine (Trost) Mackey (D. Nelson) of Ozark, MO; two sons, Kenneth Ray Trost (Pamela) of Rupert, ID and Hugo Eldon Trost (Jan) of rural Berryville, AR; grandsons: Michael Trost (Debbie) of Springdale, AR; Bradley N. Mackey and Barry D. Mackey (Sarah) of Ozark, MO; granddaughters: Connie Lynn (Trost) Weeks (Marlon) of Victor, ID; Kim (Trost) Allen (John) of Hutchinson, KS; Buffy Elaine (Mackey) Spencer (Jason) of Sparta, MO. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ellen accepted Christ at an early age. She was a charter member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Berryville, AR. She loved her church family! Her greatest desire was to see the Lord return while she was alive. And, during the last six months, she frequently was asking when "the girls", (Bethany Elaine and Eden Joy Spencer), were going to come so they could help take care of her. That was arranged often and made her happy.
