AMAN (HOLZWARTH), Martha Marie
Martha Marie Aman, 82, of Mound City, South
Dakota, died at St. Luke's Midland Hospital, Aberdeen, South
Dakota, on Thursday, September 11, 1997.
Martha was born December 9, 1914, on a farm east of Mound
City, South Dakota, the daughter of Wilhelm and Katherina
(Grenz) Holzwarth. She attended the Garfield rural school.
On September 27, 1935, she married Otto Aman at Herreid,
South Dakota, and they made their home on a farm east of
Mound City. In 1936, they moved into Mound City where she
and her husband worked as custodians at the Campbell County
Courthouse. She was a member of the Herreid Baptist Church
and the ladies aid. Martha taught Sunday School for many
years. Her family was very important to her, and she enjoyed
sharing her baked goods with others. Her husband died on
November 29, 1996.
Grateful to have shared her life are four daughters and
sons-in-law, Janis and Carroll Brockel of Selby, South
Dakota, Diann and Deryl Fenske of Aberdeen, South Dakota,
Kathy and Rick Seymour of Pollock, South Dakota, and Kristy
and Steve Byers of Hartley, Iowa; 17 grand children; 24
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Holzwarth of
Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Ervin Holzwarth of Mound City,
South Dakota, and two sisters, Lydia Heinrich of Mobridge,
South Dakota, and Mathilda Brockel of Selby, South Dakota.
In addition to her husband, Martha was preceded in death by
her parents; one son, Davis; two daughters, Sandra and Kay,
and one sister, Irene.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 15, 1997, at
the Herreid Baptist Church, Herreid, South Dakota, with Rev.
Merle Hoots officiating.
Casket bearers were Brent Fenske, Wade Fenske, Collin
Brockel, Craig Brockel, Scott Byers, John Rudolph, and
Matthew Jacobsen. Honorary casket bearers were
granddaughters, granddaughters-in-law and grandsons-in-law.
The organist was Craig Brockel, and a duet was sung by Rev.
Merle Hoots and Mark Bates, Users were Henry Fischer and
Mark Holzworth.
Burial was in the Mound City Cemetery, Mound City, South
Dakota, under the direction of Myers Funeral Home of Linton.

MOUND CITY, S.D. -- Otto Aman, 82, Mound City, died
Nov. 29, 1996, in the Mobridge nursing home. Services will
be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Herreid Baptist Church, with
burial in Mound City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; four daughters, Janis
Brockel, Selby, Diann Fenske, Aberdeen, Kathy Seymour,
Pollock, and Kristy Byers, Hartley, Iowa; two brothers,
Herman, Mound City, and Walter, Oregon; and two sisters,
Esther Bettger, St. Louis Park, Minn., and Rose Wentz.
