Obituary For Marianne Ammon |
We are sad to announce the passing of our
beloved Marianne. The quintessential “party girl”
was born on January 2, 1925 and joined her
heavenly father and many cherished friends and
family on August 3, 2015. In between was a life
well lived:
Born on a farm on Scrabble Hill in Jefferson,
Oregon, she was one of eight surviving children
born to Mary (Thiesen) Ammon and Henry Ammon. An
active and happy childhood followed, playing and
working on the farm. In March of 1946 she married
a sailor, Luther David Allen. They lived first in
Albany, Oregon, then moved to Newport in 1953. She
raised five children: Michael, Shelly, Steven, Kim
and David, while working various jobs. Her
favorite job was selling real estate. She also
served as the wife of the mayor of Newport for ten
years, from the late sixties well into the
seventies. The marriage of 47 years ended with
Dave’s death in 1993. At the ripe young age of 70
she met her best friend and soul mate, Gene Monden,
while selling him a beach house in Newport. They
married in August of 1995 and truly lived “happily
ever after’. They enjoyed many trips and
adventures, but nothing made them happier than
just being together.
Marianne greatly loved her church, family and
many, many friends. She enjoyed spending time
gardening and most of all, entertaining.
Marianne is survived by her husband Gene Monden;
brother, James Ammon; children: Michael, Steven,
Kim and David; step-children: Dennis and Denise
Monden; along with ten grandsons, two
granddaughters and numerous great grandchildren.
Marianne is preceded in death by her husband
Luther David Allen, and daughter Shelly Olsen,
along with all, but one of her cherished siblings.
