Lydia was born May 16, 1906, in rural Logan County, near Streeter, to Frederick and Christina (Schnaidt) Grenz.

As a young girl she lived with her family at Burnstad, and later moved to a farm east of Napoleon. She received her education in rural Logan County schools.

Lydia was married to Walter E. Schauer Nov. 28,
1929, in Logan County. Following their marriage they lived and farmednine miles east of Napoleon. Lydia later moved to Napoleon where she lived for many years until entering the Baptist Nursing Home in Bismarck, where she has resided for the past several years.

She was a member of Napoleon Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Richard Perkins, Holder, Fla., Phyllis and Ed Hall, Wrightsville, Ga., and Alice and Leonard Zako, Bismarck; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Walter Jr. and Lucille, Napoleon, Allen and Joyce, Marysville, Wash., and Weston, Beulah; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Helen Grenz, Karlsruhe, John and Lorraine Grenz, and Roland and Irene
Grenz, all of Bismarck.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and five brothers, Edwin, Jake, Adam, Fred and Gideon.
