LaVerna (Vernie) Cederstrom
went home to be with the Lord

LaVerna Mae Pfeifer was born May 14, 1935 in McClusky,
North Dakota. LaVerna was raised and educated in North
Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Washington. On January 28,
1955, Vernie married Roger Cederstrom in Faulkton, South
Dakota in a small Lutheran church. Roger and Vernie built
a life with their four children in Garrison, ND, and moved
to Velva in 1971. Roger died on December 27, 2007, after
53 years of marriage.
Vernie was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church in
Velva. She was very active in Christian Women. Her
greatest joy in life was being a grandmother and
great-grandmother. Vernie moved to Willmar in 2012, where
she built a life with her friends at Sterling Manor and
those at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She was survived by her children: Pamela (Gary) Berreth,
Bismarck, ND, Steven (Claudia) Cederstrom, Willmar, MN,
Keith (Becky) Cederstrom, Velva, ND, Marty (Karen)
Cederstrom, Centennial, CO, as well as eleven
grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Also
surviving are her siblings: Velma Just, Arnold Pfeifer,
Alice Rammel, Reiny Pfeifer, and Arva Del Goodreid;
half-brothers: Bill Pfeifer, Doug Pfeifer and Donnie
Pfeifer and step-brothers, Bobby Hedberg and Bernie
Hedberg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, parents,
Jacob and Frieda Pfeifer, step-mother, Edna, brother,
Elmer, sister, Marlys and special friend, Lynn Skare. |
MINOT - Roger G. Cederstrom
72, Minot, formerly of Velva, died
Dec. 27, 2007, in his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m.
Monday, Dec. 31, at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.
Burial will be in Velva Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at
Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva.
Roger was born May 7, 1935, in Bismarck, the son of Gilbert
and Elsie (Olson) Cederstrom. He was raised and educated in
Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1953.
Following graduation he worked construction as a lineman. On
Jan. 28, 1955, Roger married LaVerna Pfeifer, in Faulton,
S.D. In 1959 Roger took a job with Ottertail Power Company
in Garrison. They lived in Garrison until 1971, when he was
promoted to service representative for Ottertail Power
Company and the family moved to Velva. Roger worked for
Ottertail for 38 years, until his retirement on June 1,
1997.
Following retirement, Roger and his wife moved to Minot,
where they since had lived. During retirement, Roger worked
for area farmers and ranchers. Roger was a member of Oak
Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, and Velva Fire Department. He
was active with Boy Scouts of America. Roger volunteered in
different capacities in the Velva community for many years.
He enjoyed working with people.
Those who shared in his life are his wife, LaVerna "Vernie;"
his children, Pam (Gary) Berreth, Bismarck, Steven (Claudia)
Cederstrom, Willmar, Minn., Keith (Becky) Cederstrom, Velva,
and Marty (Karen) Cederstrom, Denver; 11 grandchildren,
Nathan Kremer and his fiancee, Jessica Dahlen, Laura Kremer
and her fiance, Tim Stokka, Thomas Kremer, Adam, Gina and
Kevin Cederstrom, Meghann, Rachael and Mikel Cederstrom and
Kayla and Morgan Cederstrom; two step-grandchildren, Nicole
(Jeff) Mindt and Mia (Karl) Corrigan; six step
great-grandchildren, Will, Luke and Joseph Corrigan and
Campbell, Jada and Sawyer Mindt; his brothers, George
(Gladys) Cederstrom, Minot, and Bruce (Jean) Cederstrom,
Bismarck; his sisters, Arlene (Dale) Morrow, Park Rapids,
Minn., and Adel Garman, Seattle; and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins survive.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert
Cederstrom and Elsie Cederstrom Nelson; his stepfather,
Martin Nelson; his sister, Etta Ann Mautz; his brother,
Russell Cederstrom; and his brother-in-law, John Garman.
