John Williams Grenz
Entered into rest on Thursday, May 8, 2003. He is survived
by his beloved wife of 28 years, Nadja Kronlund-Grenz.
Loving father of Roxanna Ray of Sacramento, CA, Steven
(Diane) Grenz of Somerset, CA and Michael (Barbara) Kronlund
of Stockton, CA. Devoted brother of Rosalie Austin of
Washington State. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 2
great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends, both
here and in Sweden, who loved him. Preceded in death by
sisters, Emma Goodier, Louise Rivas, Bertha Flemmer and
Lydia Averill, and brothers, Arthur and Albert Grenz. Bill,
as many knew him, came to Elk Grove at the age of 3 where he
was raised on a diary farm. He attended local Elk Grove
schools. Bill became a Merchant Marine during WWII, were he
reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Upon his discharge
he went to work for Campbell Soup for 34 years, retiring as
an area manager. Bill had a great passion for horseracing;
he bred, raised and owned race horses for 27 years, and he
was well known in the racing circuit. Bill will missed by
many.
