Gene Berthold Weixel, 74 of Lisbon, North
Dakota died Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
Gene was born on April 1, 1944, the oldest of 8 children of
Robert and Malida (Grenz) Weixel Sr. in Jamestown, North
Dakota. He grew up on the family farm in Montpelier, ND. He
attended school in Jud, North Dakota, graduating from Jud
High School in 1962. Gene enlisted in the United States
Marine Corp and served from 1965 – 1967. After receiving an
honorable discharge, he returned to North Dakota. Gene
enrolled in NDSU, receiving a B.S. in Generalized
Agriculture in 1971 and a Master’s degree in Mechanized
Agriculture in 1972. Gene was a County Extension Agent in
Williston for a year, then began farming with his father. He
loved farming, but had to stop in 1989 due to medical
issues. He had been resident of the North Dakota Veterans in
Lisbon, ND for the past 20 years
Gene accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He attended First
Baptist church Jamestown Sunday school and bible camp as a
child and later attended First Baptist Church in Lisbon.
Gene is survived by his son, Steve (Jennifer) Weixel of Eden
Prairie, MN; brothers, Robert (Linda) Weixel, Bismarck, and
Richard (Glenna) Weixel, Portland, Ore.; and sisters, Althea
(Bob) Booher of Punta Gorda, FL, Carol (Paul) Cuddihy of
Vienna Virginia, Mary Lou (LaVern) Radtke of Fargo, ND,
Maryette Ost of Jamestown, ND; sister-in-law, Karen Weixel
of Camas, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and brother,
Mark.
Gene was loved by his family.
Interment: North Dakota State Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND
