Frieda Grenz - Obituary

 

Frieda Aman, 80, of Murdo died Monday, October 31, 2011 at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center of Pierre.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Zion American Lutheran Church in Eureka with Rev. Ryan Gage leading the service. Burial was at the church cemetery. Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Frieda Grenz, daughter of Justina (Haas) and Joseph Grenz, was born at Trail City on January 20, 1931. She was raised on the farm six miles northwest of Trail City and attended Landeau School.

In 1946, she moved with her family to a farm east of Mound City and completed her education at Lincoln School.

Frieda married Alvin Aman on May 20, 1956. They lived near Hillsview, then briefly in Hosmer. They then moved back to the farm at Hillsview.

Alvin died November 19, 1985 and Frieda then relocated to Eureka.

In 2008, she moved to an apartment in Aberdeen and since January 2011 had lived with her daughter in Murdo.

She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, jigsaw puzzles, and talking on the phone.

Frieda is survived by two daughters, Shirley Eggers of Hartford and Sharon Aman of Murdo; two brothers, Milbert (Joyce Johnson) Grenz of Gillette, WY and Benjamin (Priscilla) Grenz of Selby; a sister, Wilma Greger of Aberdeen; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Irene Goehring and Lorraine Ellis, and three infant siblings
