ALBANY -- Dorothy Fern Grenz, 88, died Friday at Lydia's House at the Mennonite Home.

She was born in Apache, Okla., to Charles Thomas and Lillian May (Sandefer) Little. Having moved from Texas at the age of 8, she lived in Independence and graduated from Independence High School, where she was a princess at one of the community's hop festivals.

On Oct. 4, 1936, in Lebanon, she married Francis John Grenz. The couple lived in the Scravel Hill area, and after his death she moved to Albany. For several years she spent winters in Arizona and summers in Albany.

Mrs. Grenz was an avid reader and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and for many years belonged to St. Thomas Church in Jefferson.

She is survived by son Terry Grenz of Albany; daughters Sharlee May Cleland of Phoenix, and Jerrie Kay Wyatt of Vilonia, Ark.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Frank and Herbert Little and sisters Blanche, Ethel, Lila and Murl.

Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A committal service will follow at Jefferson Cemetery. Father John Betts will conduct the services.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Grenz's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in care of Fisher Funeral Home.
