Emma Caroline Weber, 98, died Feb. 9, 2002,
in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m.
Monday at First United Methodist Church, 924 N. 11th St.,
Bismarck, with the Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Burial
will be in Temvik Cemetery, Temvik.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m.today at Weigel Funeral
Home, 309 Fourth Ave. N.W., Mandan, and will continue one
hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Emma was born to Phillip and Christina (Heyne) Pfeifer on
Dec. 4, 1903, in a sod house on the family farm south of
Temvik. She was the first of eight children. She attended
school in McCulley school district, and made her home there.
Emma was united in marriage to John Weber Jr. on Dec. 16,
1924, in her parents' home. The couple started their married
life on a farm east of Temvik, moving to a farm two miles
north of Temvik in 1927. They continued farming, and moved
to Hazelton in 1971.
Her husband, John, passed away Feb. 15, 1982. Emma moved to
Linton in 1983 and to Bismarck in 1986. She lived alone and
cared for herself until she suffered a stroke, and then
moved to a care center in Bismarck in April 1998.
Emma was a member of First United Methodist Church in
Bismarck. In years past, she had been active in the Linton
Senior Citizens, homemakers club, bridge club, a circle in
her church and volunteer work while living in Bismarck. Emma
enjoyed growing flowers and gardening. She was well-known
for her cooking, baking and sewing. Emma made many quilts,
afghans and doilies for family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her son and
daughter-in-law, Reinhold and Donna Weber, Casper, Wyo.; her
daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Virgil Malchert,
Williston; four loving grandchildren and their spouses,
Debbie and Steve Van Berkom, Mandan, Brian and Nancy
Malchert, Fergus Falls, Minn., Gail and Scott Smith,
Coppell, Texas, and Ryan and Janice Weber, Rapid City, S.D.;
seven great grandchildren, Jason Van Berkom, Gretta, Molly
and Tara Malchert, Michelle and Matthew Smith and Tyrell
Weber; and one sister, Tillie Shipley, Steele.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
John; four brothers; and two sisters.
