Dorothy Grenz
(June 30, 1922 - June 28, 2007)
Dorothy Grenz, 84, Jamestown, North Dakota diedThursday, June 28, 2007 at Jamestown Hospital.
DorothySuko was born June 30, 1922 in Alexander Township,
north of Alfred, North Dakota, the daughter of
Reinhold and Christina (Obenauer) Suko. She was
baptized and confirmed at a young age. She was
educated in rural school and worked on the family
farm.
On November 5, 1943 Dorothy married Gust Grenz
at the farm home of her parents north of Alfred. They
lived on a farm by Cleveland, ND for seven months, then moved to a farm southwest of Medina, ND where
they lived until 1967 when they moved to Jamestown.
Dorothy worked at the Anne Carlsen Center for Children
for six months; 2 years in food service at the ND
State Hospital and 12 years in housekeeping from where
she retired in 1982.
Gust died August 30, 1982.
Dorothy was a member of the First Congregational
United Church of Christ and the North Dakota State
Employee Association.
Dorothy is survived by one son,
Donald (Sylvia) Grenz; one daughter, Deborah Grenz,
all of Jamestown; two grandsons, Anthony (Kristi) and
Kenneth (Kristen) Grenz; two step-granddaughters,
Michelle (Aaron) Scoles and Samantha (John) Twombly;
seven great-grandchildren, Bobby, Dakota, Bryan,Jacob, Alexandra, Elizabeth and Emma; threestep-great-grandchildren, Crystal, Brianna and Skyler,all her "little sweeties"; two brothers, Martin
(Helen) Suko and Edwin (Loretta) Suko, both of
Jamestown; one sister, Ruth Gomke, Cleveland, ND; a
sister-in-law, Leona Suko, Napoleon, ND and many
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
husband; parents; two brothers, Gotthilf and Sam and
seven sisters, Amelia Gohner, Bertha Wegner, Louise
Attebery, Minnie Hoff, Rose Reich and twin sisters in
infancy. Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM, Monday, July 2, 2007
at the St. James Basilica, Jamestown with Father Al
Bitz officiating. Visitation: 1:00 to 7:30 PM, Sunday,
July 1, 2007 at the Eddy Funeral Home in Jamestown.
Vigil: 7:30 PM, Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Eddy
Funeral Chapel. Burial: Medina Cemetery, Medina, North

Obituary
Died at United Hospital in Grand Forks. Funeral at First
Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Jamestown.
Internment Medina Cemetery and Haut Funeral Home in charge.
Attended local rural schools and worked on the family farm in Germania
township in Stutsman County. After marriage lived on his
parents' farm, then moved to a farm south of Cleveland. In fall
of 1944, moved to a farm southwest of Medina where they lived for 23
years.
In the fall of 1967, They moved into Jamestown where he
was employed with Northern Pacific Railroad. In 1969, he began
employment with the North Dakota State Hospital, a position he held
until March 1982, when he retired.
