Delmar E. Kassman
73, died Friday, December
6, 2002, at his home after a brave battle with cancer.
Delmar, son of Adolph and Bertha (Hermann) Kassman, was born
on April 28, 1929 at Streeter, ND. They moved to a farm
north of Robinson, North Dakota where he grew up and
attended school. He helped on the farm for a short time
before moving to Jamestown, ND where he was employed by M &
H. He joined the U.S. Army on July 23, 1952 at Steele, ND.
He was an instructor for the infantry. He was discharged
from the service on June 21, 1954 at Fort Bliss, Texas.
He married Marcella Fercho on June 6, 1952 at Streeter, ND.
He returned to Jamestown and continued to work at the M & H
Gas Station. They moved to Grand Forks and six years later
moved to Fargo, where he continued to work for M & H until
his retirement in 1995.
He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He enjoyed
spending time with his family and friends. His greatest
pleasure was spending time with his six grandchildren,
Melissa and Kyle Kassman, Jamie, Sara and Kayla Docken,
Trinity Brahos, and his best friend Marv Hanson.
Delmar is survived by his wife, Marcella; one son, Tom
(Nancy) Kassman, West Fargo, ND; two daughters, Bonnie
(Russ) Docken, Owatonna, MN; Laura (Jon) Brahos, Fargo, ND;
two sisters, Gladys (Harold) Weers, Seattle, WA; Betty
(Fred) Stewart, Moses Lake, WA; six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers,
Eugene and LeRoy.
