August 14, 1947 – February 12, 2021
Darlene (Ammon) Withrow was born on August 14, 1947 in
Salem, OR to Clausie and Sheila (Roland) Ammon.
Darlene’s childhood was spent between Jefferson and Echo
Oregon. In Jefferson, she resided in a home built in 1910 on
3rd St in Jefferson, OR. She lived in Echo Oregon for about
9 years when she was younger before the family moved back to
Jefferson. Her agrarian upbringing instilled a lifelong love
of animals. She had many pets throughout her life, including
ponies, dogs, and cats.
Darlene graduated from Jefferson High School in 1965. After
high school Darlene traveled around the US by bus exploring
the states. Darlene began her professional career at State
Farm Insurance before becoming a stay-at-home mom. When she
returned to work, at the State of Oregon Dept. of
Corrections, she was able to achieve a position of office
manager and retired after 25 years.
During her professional career, Darlene was able to raise
her two children and assist her parents Clausie and Shelia.
She maintained a close relationship with her parents, and
they were thankful for her love and support over their 60+
years together. Darlene was an amazing woman who was always
kind to others.
Darlene married Chuck in 2000, living in Jefferson, Oregon
before deciding to move to Buhl, Idaho where her husband
worked on beet and potato farms. They lived in Idaho for 3.5
years and then decided to come back to Oregon to build a new
home in Millersburg, Oregon.
She loved to travel, favorite locations including Hawaii,
Lake Havasu, and Disneyland. Darlene was blessed to go on a
family trip to Disneyland to share memories with her
granddaughter Lyra. Outside of travel, Darlene enjoyed
restoring antiques and collecting dolls.
