Virgil Fischer
Virgil E. Fischer, 70, Bismarck, died Sept. 28,
2007, at a Bismarck hospital after an extended illness.
Memorial Mass will be held at noon Thursday, Oct. 4, at St.
Mary's Catholic Church, Bismarck. Family will be receiving
friends one hour prior to the service. Refreshments will be
served after mass in the church cafeteria.
Virgil was born Dec. 19, 1936, in Golden Valley, to Walter
and Leah (Grenz) Fischer. In 1946, his family moved to
Bismarck. In July 1956, he married Diane Jahner and they
raised four children. He was a great dad and enjoyed
spending time with his grandkids.
Virgil was in the painting business in the Bismarck area for
nearly 50 years. Many of those years were spent working with
his father and brother. He was a very talented and
meticulous craftsman. One of his joys in retirement was
sharing his painting and carpentry skills with his neighbors
and friends. Virgil was a willing help to many and he will
be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Virgil Jr.
(Kristy), Pierre, S.D., and Ervin (Shannon), Debra (Lee)
Duppong and Dale, all of Bismarck; 15 grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; his father, Walter; and his sisters,
Shirley, Bismarck, Ruth (John) Doroshuk, Canada, June
Krukenberg, Bismarck, Joy (Dennis) Lucht, Arizona, Viv(Rick)
Gwin, Bismarck, Kay (Bill) Barth, Bismarck, and Dawn (Bill)
Jahner, Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leah; and his
