ARNOLD'S OBITUARY

U.S. Veteran
Arnold Pfeifer, 94, Minot, died Friday, December 4, 2020 in a Velva Care Center.
Arnold was born September 19, 1926 in Pickardville, ND to Jacob and Freida (Maier) Pfeifer. He spent most of his formative years in the Mercer area, attending country schools in a number of townships as family moved to make ends meet. Arnold assisted his family with the operation of the farm as a youth until he moved with his family to Washington State. He was employed as a ship welder until his family moved to Montana.
Arnold was drafted into the US Army December 26, 1945. He served honorably and was discharged from active duty at Fort Lewis, WA on July 22, 1947. He returned to the prairie of North Dakota as a farm hand for his family.
Arnold was united in marriage to Lorraine Just January 13, 1950. They called Bismarck home for the first four years of marriage. He found employment with Capital Electric. They lived in Towner, ND for a couple of years until moving to Minot in 1957, when Arnold began his career with Souris River Telephone. He would spend the next 31 years with the company, retiring in 1988. Lorraine died October 10, 2014.
Arnold was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Minot and Bottineau, ND. He valued the time spent at their lake home on Lake Metigoshe over the years with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoor venues of North Dakota while fishing, camping and deer hunting. A round of golf was also part of his pastimes, but all took a back seat to the time spent with family. He will be missed by those blessed to share in his life.
