Alice Virginia Ammon, 85, of Albany died Saturday at
Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
She was born in Albany, the daughter of Dennis Ward and
Flo Alene (Dannals)
Merrill.
After graduating from nursing school, she enjoyed working
as a nurse.
Alice married Edward Norton "Ed" Ammon on July 21, 1955,
in Albany.
Later in life, Alice looked forward to traveling to the
East Coast with her daughter to purchase inventory for
Peabody's, the family's antique shop. For 13 years, she
made customers feel welcome as they shopped at Peabody's.
Alice and Ed traveled together to Maui and other places
while taking cruises. He preceded her in death on March
26, 2004.
Alice's daughter and granddaughters will miss their Sunday
afternoon movie and dinner ritual with her.
She is survived by daughter Gini Christie of Albany;
granddaughters Ashley Christie and McKenzie Christie; and
sister Jean Riebe of Tacoma, Wash. She was preceded in
death by her parents, her husband and sister Helen Reid.
