GRENZ FAMILY TREE

Commentary by Holly Larson

These Volga German ancestors are interesting to me in part because they are relatively unknown and were a part of the family far removed geographically and culturally in large parent, even from my own grandfather and my mom and her siblings. It seems Raymond Ebel had some sort of falling out with his family and I don't know that he ever returned to Kansas. He was said to be a fairly angry man. His life was hard and did not turn out how he wanted. My grandfather left his parents home before he was done with high school due to the conflict there. At one time, Raymond and Rose had filed for divorce, when my grandfather was still a toddler, but never followed through with that. Ronald essentially became part of his wife's family, who were dominated by the Irish maternal side of that family. My grandfather kept everything, which is why we have boxes of family papers and photos. He always wanted to know where his grandfather Adam had come from, but of course we never found out while he was still living
