 Lloyd Linden Grenz was born April 19, 1928 to William and Anna (Harder) Grenz on a farm west of Lake Benton, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Verdi Township. He grew up on the family farm, and graduated from Verdi Public School in 1945. In the growing-up years he was active in school sports and band, playing in a dance band for several years. He also taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir for many years. On June 9, 1950 Lloyd married Marilyn Schaffer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton, South Dakota. Their union was blessed with two sons and 60 years of life together. The couple farmed and lived on the family farm. Lloyd served on the church board for a number of years, until 1962 when he left the farm, moving to Lake Benton and two years later to Tyler. After leaving the farm he did power line construction work for twelve-and-a-half years, and soon after leaving construction work started working for the City of Tyler. After he retired in 1991, the couple moved to Danebod Village in Tyler in 1997. In 2002 they moved to Lake Benton. Lloyd entered hospice care at Tyler Healthcare Center on Thursday, June 24, where on Monday, June 28, 2010 he died with his wife at his side at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 9 days. 

Lloyd was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler. He enjoyed traveling, reading, watching television, fishing, yard work, and playing cards. 

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Lake Benton; his sons, Jim Grenz of Mankato, Minnesota and Laurel Grenz and his wife Wendy of Sparta, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Kyle (and Jennifer), Jason (and Meg), and Kelsey, all of Mankato, Minnesota, Aaron (and Nicole) of Arden Hills, Minnesota, and Micah (and Gretchen) of Sparta, Tennessee; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde (and Gloria) Grenz of Pocatello, Idaho; sisters-in-law Lois Willert of Elkton, South Dakota and Ruth (and Wayne) Peterson of Waitsburg, Washington; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law LeRoy and Norma Grenz; and brother-in-law Norman Willert.

Marilyn Ann Grenz was born January 8, 1931 to Albert and Edna (Gust) Schaffer at Elkton, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton. She grew up in Elkton where her father was a John Deere implement dealer, and she attended school there, graduating from Elkton High School in 1948. She was active in Glee Club and school plays, and also worked for a short time doing waitress work, and as a check-out girl at the local grocery store. After graduation she worked at the Tyler Hospital for two years. On June 9, 1950 Marilyn and Lloyd Grenz of Lake Benton were married at Trinity Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with two sons and 60 years of life together. They resided on the Grenz farm until 1962, and in this time she was active in the Ladies Aid at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Verdi Township and also in Extension clubs. In 1962 they moved to Lake Benton, and in 1964 moved to Tyler. After moving to Tyler she worked at the Tyler Hospital doing many things, but her most loved duties were doing floor work and working in surgery. She retired in January 1996 after devoting over 30 years to the Hospital. Lloyd died in 2010. She continued to live at home and entertain family and friends. In 2012 she moved into Danebod Village and really enjoyed her time there. In April 2015, Marilyn moved into the Sunrise Manor Nursing home in Tyler where she passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the age of 86 years, five months and 14 days.

Marilyn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tyler. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, knitting, card playing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her sons, James Grenz of Mankato, Minnesota, and Laurel (Wendy) Grenz of Sparta, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Kyle (Jennifer), Jason (Meg), Kelsey (Brock), Aaron (Nicole), and Micah (Gretchen); eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth (Wayne) Peterson of Waitsburg, Washington; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; and a sister, Lois Willert.
