Rosina, her husband Jacob, and their son
Almore all died on the same day - March 30, 1942
Jacob and Rosina Maier came to the Elgin, ND, area according
to the Elgin 75th Anniversary Book 1910 - 1985. Jacob was both
a farmer and a business man. The moved to California in
1935. Jacob was a partner with George Strohmair in
operating the S & M Liquor Store In Lodi. Jacob, 64, and
his so, Amore, 21, were killed at 4:30 am on Highway 99, two
miles north of Tulare when the car driven by Jacob Maier
sideswiped a truck and trailer loaded with lumber. Mrs.
Maier was critically injured, Thelma Mae Maier, 5, and Mrs.
Krause, also passengers in the car, were in hospital with
injuries describe as serious. |
