Marvin Schumann

Marvin Schumann, age 82, of Carrington, ND, died Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford, ND.

Marvin Schumann was born on February 23, 1930, the son of Fred and Anna (Lindner) Schumann at Colby, Wisconsin.
He was raised and attended school in Colby. At the age of 18, Marvin was drafted and served in the Korean Conflict in the US Army for 18 months. After his Honorable Discharge, he was employed by Zontelli Construction.

On May 6, 1956, Marvin was united in marriage to Betty Lou Grenz of Hazelton, ND in Wibaux, MT. Following their marriage, Marvin accepted a job with Vicars Construction where he was a foreman for 17 years. In 1974, he joined the telephone company at Langdon, ND. In 1976, Marvin became part owner-manager of Nodak Fertilizer Company at Carrington.

Marvin will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him. He was a man of few words who enjoyed life to the fullest. Until his illness, he enjoyed working in his shop and spending many hours fishing at Devils Lake. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, VFW and American Legion all in Carrington.

Those privileged to share his life are wife, Betty Lou, Carrington; one son Shane (Alison) Schuman, Carrington; one daughter, Stacy Doty, Warrenton OR; 4 grandchildren, Ian (Crystal) Meyers, Isaac Meyers, Logen Schumann and Bailey Schumann; 2 great grandchildren, Trinity and Landon Meyers; 2 sisters, Dorothy (Lenny) Wagnor, Crandon, WI and Elsie Bacon, Milwaukee, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother Merlin and brothers Arnold, Fred, and Alvin; one sister, Bernita; and son-in-law, Leonard Doty.
