Leo

Leo was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Linton, ND.  He attended the one-room grade school in the Gayton District and graduated from 8th grade in 1939.  He farmed with his father until he got a farm of his own.  Leo helped to start the field of irrigation in the early 1960's from a hand-move type to an automated pivot system to increase feed production for his cattle operation.

Leo, Sally and son Kelly farm in Braddock, ND.  Kelly graduated from Braddock High School in May, 1988.

Leo Grenz - Obituary


Leo Grenz, 89, Braddock, passed away February 27, 2015. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at the Bismarck Funeral Home. There will be no burial as cremation has taken place.
        Leo was born on October 12, 1925, in Livona. He was the son of Godfrey and Lydia Grenz. Leo was raised and educated in the Livona area. Leo had a passion for farming and ranching and was an exceptional mechanic. He loved to visit his friends and was loved dearly by his family. He always had a wonderful sense of humor and was always quick with a smile.
        Leo was united in marriage to Phyllis Backhus and had three children with Phyllis; Donavin, David, and Lee Atta. He was later married to Sally Lawler and they had one son Kelly and two step-daughters, Karen and Karol.
         Leo is survived by his wife: Sally; sons: Donavin (Debra), Linton, David (Shirley), Linton, Kelly (Kelley) Braddock; daughters: Lee Atta (special friend Clint) Linton; step-daughters: Karen and special friend Dave and Karol (Steve); several grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and brother: Herb (Arlene) and sister: Anna Schmitz.
           Leo was preceded in death by his parents, and other siblings.
