*Notes:  John was raised in the Hazelton, ND area.  He graduated from the 8th grade and spent several years working on his parent's farm.  At the age of 23, John joined the U.S. Air Force in 1948, where he served for four years, being honorably discharged in 1952.  He worked in the Santa Monica and Santa Barbara, CA area, where he met his wife, Betty.  They were married in 1954 and settled in Santa Barbara, CA where they still live.  They also have a home in Bull Head City, AZ, where they enjoy spending some time.
