Snap Shot and Obituary

 Jake Grenz

Jake joined the C.C.C. and worked at Ft. Forsythe, MT in the 1930's.  When he returned, he worked in a carnival for Kak Feister.  Jake farms with his father and eventually bought his own farm from Laudermills's, east of Hazelton.  He also spent two years in  the bar business with his brother-in-law, Earl Farrey.

Although Jake and Lorraine Mulske were married in a small private ceremony at Laurel, MT, they had one of the largest receptions up to that time when they returned to Hazelton.

Jake hauled rock for Schoonover Bros. Const. when the bridge was rebuilt across the Missouri at Bismarck; he also worked in Medora.  Jake did custom combining with his cousin, Hilbert Stoller, for about 20 years, from Enid, OK and back to ND.  He quit in 1073 and sold his land in 1076, due to failing health.

Jake's favorite past-times were reading comic books and playing solitary.  He was a favorite of his nieces and nephews, who loved to be called "Snicklefritz" and hear about "Joe Shabooshnik."

Jake and Lorraine built a new grocery store in Hazelton in the fall of 1977.  Jake passed away on 30 Jan. 1981 from cancer; he is interred at the Hazelton City Cemetery.  Lorraine continued to operate the store until 1983, when she retired due to poor health.
