Ida Grenz

           Ida, daughter of Gottlieb and Barbara Grenz, was born May 30, 1919 in Hazelton.  She attended school in Hazelton and at age 18 she met August Miller of Isabel, SD.

           August Miller, son of Jacob and Christina miller, was born Jan 31, 1910 in Linton.  Ida and August were married Dec 26, 1937, in Hazelton.  They left for Firesteel, SD shortly after the wedding as August had a position with Runkel Coal Company as a scale master.  They lived there until 1941 when they left for Bremerton, Washington.  They both worked in the naval shipyards for about 67 months.  By the fall of 1942, they bought a home in Missoula, Mont., and that is where they lived until 1955.  They had two daughters, Norma Jean was born in Mobridge, SD in 1939, and Donna Mae was born in Missoula, Mont in 1942.  In 1955, they moved to Vancouver, Wash., where  Ida's two sister, Martha and Esther already lived.  Augusts'  brother, Adolph, was married to Martha so they both had family nearby in Vancouver.  They lived in Vancouver until their deaths.  August passed away in August 1981 and Ida passed away jan6, 1992.  They are both buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Vancouver, Wash.  Norma and Donna would like to say that they were very blessed to have Ida and August as their parents.
