Mrs. Barbara Grenz, 76, former resident of Streeter died at a Bismarck hospital on January 6, 1960, after being a patient there for two days.

 

Funeral services were held on January 9, 1960, in St. Lukeās Lutheran Church in Streeter. Rev. John Schmierer, pastor officiated; burial was in the Lutheran cemetery in Streeter with Haut Funeral Home of Gackle in charge. Pallbearers were Jacob Bier, Richard Dockter, David Janke, Elmer Molske, Adolph Gutmiller and William Oberlander.

Barbara Bier, a daughter of Martin and Katie Gums Bier, was born on August 18, 1883, in Gildendorf, South Russia. She attended school and grew to womanhood in her native land. In 1904 she and Gottfried Grenz were married at Gildendorf, South Russia and they came to the United States in 1908. They settled and farmed a homestead west of Hazelton, North Dakota. In 1921 they moved into Hazelton. In 1951 they moved to Bismarck but returned to Hazelton two years later. In 1954 they moved to Streeter. In 1955 Mr. Grenz died and in May of that year she entered the Baptist Home for the Aged at Bismarck.

She is survived by one brother, Conrad Bier of Streeter.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and her husband.
