Eva Grenz
Gottlieb and Pauline Grenz and daughters
came to the United States in 1905 with Eva Grenz, Rosina
and Jacob Maier and children. He must have went back
to Russia a short time later. He had the 2 daughters
Katherina and Christina at that time. Gottlieb paid
Eva's fare. Per Grenz Von Gueldendorf: Gottlieb
Grenz, his wife, Paulina, and two children,
Katherina, age 2, and Christine, 6 months, came
to America wth his sisters Rosina Maier and Eva
Grenz. They arrived at the port of Quebec,
province of Quebec, Canada, on the S.S. lake
Champlain on the 10th of June 1905. The
destination of the entire group was recorded as
"brother-in-law Heinrich Wagner at Euredka,
Campbell, S. D." The passenger list states
that Gottlieb suffered from trachoma (an eye
infection) and daughter Katherina had
tuberculosis of the lymph glands. They
were refused entry by immigration officials and
the entire family returned to Russia. |
