Erna Grenz, formerly of Hazelton, ND,died Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, ND. Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Hazelton Cemetery. Erna Grenz was born April 16, 1920 in Hazelton, ND, the daughter of Karl and Nora (Burkhardt) Grenz. She attended country school. In 1950, Erna lived in Tacoma where her sisters lived, for about six years. She came back to Hazelton to help out on the family farm. In 1992, Erna moved to Hazelton and retired. In 2005 she moved to the Carrington Villa Lutheran Home. Erna loved to read. She always kept in contact with her family, always remembering special days. She enjoyed traveling, seeing California, Vegas and New York. Erna was a member of St. Pauls Evangelical Church in Hazelton. She is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law: Betty Lou and Marvin Schumann of Carrington, ND and Hilda Schiermeister of Strasburg, ND as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Carl and Elmer and two sisters, Doris and Lucille.
