Doug was born in Bismarck and raised near Hazelton by his parents, Harry and Edna Grenz, at their farm. He worked along with his dad, raising crops and caring for livestock. Doug loved playing basketball for the Hazelton Tigers and joining with cousins, aunts and uncles at many family events.

In 1977, he married Susan Enockson and they had one son, Nathan, now married to Kathleen.

Doug had many interests and abilities. He was currently the Chief Examiner of Banks, State of North Dakota, and had been a bank examiner for 28 years. He also loved raising Angus cattle, hunting, antiques, Sioux hockey and times enjoying his family and friends. He still had a long list of things he wanted to complete. Doug balanced his strong work ethic with humor and lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife, Sue; son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Kathleen, Minneapolis; mother, Edna; sister, Sharon Renschler and her family, Brian, Rob and Jen; Sue’s family, Cliff and Gerry Enockson and Gail, Jon and Ryan Thompson; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Grenz; and two brothers-in-law Pete Renschler and Rob Enockson.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or a local charity of donor’s choice.
