DeWayne Edwin Eisenbarth, 63, passed away
March 14, 2014, at his home in Ridgefield, Wash., surrounded
by his family. He was born June 1, 1950, in Bismarck, N.D.,
to Reuben and Ruth Eisenbarth. He lived at the family farm
in Hazelton, N.D., until he was 12 years old.
He then moved to Missoula, Mont., with his mother after his
parents divorced. He graduated from Sentinel High School in
1968. Later moving to Walla Walla to raise his family and
then to Ridgefield. DeWayne began working for the railroad
in 1972, first for the Milwaukee Railroad as a trainman in
Montana and later moving to Walla Walla to work as an
engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad until retirement. In
fact, as he took his last breaths, a train whistle sounded
through an open window — a fitting send off for a proud
railroad man. He enjoyed farming, raising his own beef and
gardening. He especially enjoyed growing corn and sharing it
with friends. Old Chevy cars, real estate and rodeos brought
him enjoyment. He was a Christian man with a deep love for
the Lord. He spent many years studying the Bible on his own
and in Bible study groups. He quoted this Scripture many
times while in the hospital. “If we live, we live to the
Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live
or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; daughter, Amy
(Josh) Vanderzanden; sons, Eric (Sabrina) and Aaron;
grandchildren, Eric Jr., Breanna, Julia, Diedrich, Gavin and
Christien; sisters, Sandra, Arlene and Karen; and brothers,
Darwin, Arneil and Lorrie. He was preceded in death by his
parents; and his sister, Karleen.
