ALBERT HENRY ZIMMERMAN was born on July 10, 1913 at
New Leipzig, ND to Henry and Katherina (Peitz) Zimmerman. He
was baptized on August 12, 1913 and later confirmed in the
Ebenezer Church in Old Leipzig on July 7, 1929. Albert
attended Leipzig school district 14 and helped his family on
the farm for many years until he met Bertha Weishaar. On
February 5, 1939, they were united in marriage at the
Johannestal Church, north of New Leipzig, ND. They began
their life together on a farm they purchased together 8
miles northeast of Heil, ND. In 1944 they purchased land 6
miles north of Heil. They farmed and ranched together there
until retiring in 1976. Albert and Bertha built a home in
Elgin, ND and spent their retirement years there. Bertha
Zimmerman passed away on March 3, 1996. Albert’s failing
health moved him into the Dacotah Hills on November 7, 2000.
He later entered the Jacobson Memorial Care Center in Elgin,
where he passed from this life on Thursday, April 7, 2005.
Grateful for having shared his life are his four sons and
daughters-in-law, Melvin and Loretta Zimmerman, Puyallup,
WA; Almore and Darline Zimmerman, Onida, SD; Ervin and
Julianna Zimmerman, Bismarck, ND; Jim and Pat Zimmerman,
Elgin, ND; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Ron
Anderson, Billings, MT; 15 grandchildren, 29 great
grandchildren; three siblings, Helen Zimmerman and Louise
Laub, both of Bismarck, ND and Richard and Pearl Zimmerman,
of Missoula, MT and sister-in-law, Hilda Zimmerman, of
Elgin, ND.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57
years, Bertha, one daughter in infancy, three siblings, Ted
and Otto Zimmerman and Bertha Staiger, one grandchild Randy
Zimmerman and one great granddaughter, Shanice Hill.
