Doris was born June 5, 1928. She married Cecil Van Ness. They had five children – Perry, Curtis, Chuck, Sarah, and Fred.

Two other sons were born during the years between Doris and Charles, but both died in infancy.

Mother was 10 years old when grandma had gall bladder surgery, and she made bread for the family. Aunt Elsie is 97. Aunt Leona is in her 90’s.

Charles was born April 10, 1933. He married Ruth. They had five children – Carletta, Kirby, David, Kevin, and Kelly.

Marilyn was born Sep 20, 1934. In June of 1951 she married Lester Dais. Ricky was born in September of that same year. She had four more sons – Daryl, Wayne, Kevin, and Brian.

Two more girls were born and died after that. People had had a shower for the last of her girls. Mother got a lot of the baby stuff from that shower for me.

To summarize: Six stayed married to their original spouses.

Two remarried after their spouses died at a young age.

Only one divorced.

Two adopted two children each.

One had no children who survived infancy.

Two had four children each.

Three had five children each.

The Grenzes had nine children:

Edwin was born in 1904. He married Ida. They had two children – Clinton 1933 and Kermit 1943.

Lydia was born in 1906. She married Walter Schauer. They had six children – Phyllis, Allen, Walter Jr., Alice, Weston, and Maxine Nov 22, 1945. They were divorced when the children were still young.

Jake was born in 1908. He married Lucy Freier on March 13, 1930. They had two sons – Marvin and Alan. (Alan died of appendicitis at age 13.)

Adam was born March 23, 1910. He married Bertha Gieser. They had three children – Bobby March 5, 1939, Stanley August 1945, and Vera Nov 1943. He died in 1974.

Ernest was born May 11, 1913. He married Emma Rudolf in 1935. They had one child, Vernon.

John was born November 20, 1914. He married Lavina who had two young children already. Together they had one child, Loa.

Fred was born March 25, 1916. He married Violet. They had two sons, Arlo and Daryl. He died at age 42 in 1958.

Roland was born in 1918. He married Irene Rau on December 10, 1944. They had one daughter, Brenda.

Gideon Grenz was born on January 31, 1920. He married Gloria Bauer on January 28, 1945. And we are back to those four children they had.
